English or Spanish classes for students with dyslexia
One of the main objectives of our interest is to allow everyone to learn a foreign language, especially those languages such as English and Spanish that today are of fundamental One of the main objectives of our interest is to allow everyone to learn a foreign language, especially those languages such as English and Spanish that today are of fundamental importance to be able to access the world of work.We are specialized in teaching with dyslexics since we decided to research at university level (PHD) new teaching methodologies for dyslexics, being for us a point of strength and not a weakness.
Learning difficulties, among which are dyslexia, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) with or without hyperactivity, etc., have been studied and attended with special care by a wide range of professionals within the world of the specialties of neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology, psychology and psychopedagogy, during the last 20 years.
Despite this, dyslexia remains a territory full of controversies, since there is no interdisciplinary consensus and this lack of agreement makes it a source of confusion and disorientation for parents and teachers.
The research work of Dr. Erica Di Francesco focuses on:
- The use of Skype reduces attention deficit and increases concentration, , making classes more entertaining, and digitizing words allows them to memorize and learn English more easily.
- The psychological support makes us think about the importance of a psycholinguistics that with few resources allows to increase the students’ self-esteem to the point that the problems become challenges.
- The use of a color sheet system allows retaining long-term parts of the language.
This study aims to allow any type of family to support their dyslexic child by making them feel part of a class group.
Our interest is to allow any type of social class to have resources to study, it does not take a costly tool to learn a foreign language such as English, because the objective of this work is to learn English as a foreign language since nowadays It is a selection measure for many jobs.
What is usually said about dyslexia is that we must respect determinates guidances : making clear what the teacher wants the student to do, accepting that he/she asks questions during the lessons, making sure that the student has undestood the orders.
Check that the environment is structured, predictable and orderly, since students with dyslexic difficulties respond better when certain premises are met.
Accept and admit that your student will take longer to learn and that he will tire more quickly than other students.
But our methodology puts more than the typical overtime, the repetition of the exercises, reading the deliveries etc.
What the EDF methodology proposes is the use of a yellow page system to allow students to better memorize what they read and what they can memorize. This methodology is based on the principles and neurological studies of Dr. Stein.
Dr. Erica Di Francesco has developed this methodology on the basis of medical studies and experiencing these new methodologies with a group of 60 students with dyslexia.
The result has been very satisfactory. Try it also, dare with us to discover NOT only a new methodology but above all a way of teaching that believe in positive reinforcement, believe in our students and focus first of all on the positive traits of each student that is unique and unrepeatable.
We help you not only to study a language and its culture but also to believe in yourself.
